Day 2: London - Paris
Wow, I didn't sleep a wink last night. Went to
bed at midnight, rolled around till 4, and woke up at 5:15 for
the first day of my European Experience. So tired! Met a bunch
of people, I think I've got all their names down... saw London,
the Eye, Westminster, etc and then made our way to Dover and
it's not so white cliffs.
The ferry ride was fun, kind of choppy, but I
met and talked to everyone. Lots of cute girls on the trip!
It's really windy out, but not too cold, a nice change from
the heat on the bus. It seems like everyone knows my name, guess
the nametag is actually working... although I kind of feel like
a dork with it on.
Things are good, I'm in Europe, meeting lots of
people, just enjoying life. No stress, no worries, no responsibilities,
just me :)
Sometime around midnight:
We had to wait for a Jackson (our real driver)
in Calais, took him a couple of hours before we were able to
leave, but it was well spent with good company, hackey-sacking
out in the crazy wind.... by the time this trip is over, everyone's
going to be so good.
We got stuck in traffic almost the whole way to
Paris, but at least I was able to get in a few hours worth of
sleep. Took out about 600 Euros from an ATM, enough for a few
days, as well as to pay off all my optionals. I signed up for
all of them except for the Swarovski Crystal Museum.
I ate, or at least tried to eat a snail today...
Well what happened was that I was making fun of Catherine for
smoking, and yet not being able to eat a snail. I've got to
give it to her, she tried, but then threw it up. She tried again
(with a different snail) and swallowed it this time. So then
Ryan and Chauntel decided to force one on me. Punks, of course
I had to try it cause I didn't want to be a wimp.. So I stuck
the nasty piece of greeness in my mouth, and took a chew....
squish. OMG! The juices/slime/garlic
EXPLODED from the snail. So salty! Made me gag... I just couldn't
swallow it, so I chewed again... Damn I'm dense! Same results.
Tears started forming, and my gagging commenced.
I'm such a wuss! To make matters worse, I skulled
a glass of champagne, and that was just as awful! Heh... wonder
what all the girls think of me now... Hey, at least I got Catherine
to stop smoking before all my credibility went up in flames...
but I guess we'll see how that goes.
Dinner was eh... chicken, rice, pasta, apple strudel, not too
Parisian. After dinner, we went on a night tour of Paris (the
City of Lights). So Beautiful! Everything was WoW! Remember
Napolean's dick? Heh... for those of you who weren't there to
experience it, our Tour Manager Aaron, decided to tell us about
how Napolean's privates were in a jar on the 2nd floor of this
building. He got everyone to look, and then when we started
complaining about not being able to see anything, he laughs,
and then points us to the other windows, and what do we see?
DISCO EIFFEL TOWER! We then went
up to Palais de Chaillot and took some awesome night shots of
the Eiffel tower.
Can't wait to see it tomorrow, all of it. The plan is for Me,
Gaby, Stacey, Amy, Sally and Matt to skip the optionals and
spend the day wandering/getting lost in Paris. It's such a beautiful
night outside on my cabin's front steps... only 19 more days
to go :(
